What Can I Expect On My First Visit?
Your first visit at My Smile Artist represents the kind of care and attention you’ll receive on every visit. During your comprehensive exam and dental cleaning, we make every effort to ensure your comfort and help you feel like part of our family. When you arrive, our front office staff will stand up and greet you by name. We’ll accept your completed new patient forms, or give you forms to complete in the reception area. Dr. Imam will come into the reception area, greet you, and escort you on a tour of the office. After that, you’ll sit in a conference room to get acquainted, discuss your oral health history and any concerns, and talk about your smile goals. A thorough new patient examination follows. It includes:
- Photos of your face, mouth, and teeth
- Examination of your head and neck
- Oral cancer screening of your tongue, cheeks, and oral tissue
- Full-mouth digital x-rays
- Periodontal probing and charting to detect of any signs of gum disease
The entire examination will take an hour and a half. After your exam, Dr. Imam will discuss the status of your oral health and any issues, and explain your treatment options. Afterward, a hygienist will complete your dental cleaning, which takes an additional hour. You have the option of scheduling the hygiene session at a separate appointment.
Digital Smile Design Consultation
If you’re interested in a smile makeover, we offer a complimentary Digital Smile Design consultation. This technology lets you preview how you will look with changes to the size, shape, shade, or position of your teeth before any work is done. It also allows you to have an active role in designing your new smile. Read our Digital Smile Design page for more information about this exciting technology.
